You smiled while I tried on my big girl dresses

taught me the intentions in a kiss

held my hand around the race track

and let go

when I asked you to.

You gave me a choice between a father

and a father figure.

To be an enabler or a doer.

I called you Grand Poobah

because even in my innocence

I knew you were the wise man

not with all the answers

but the candidness to question.

As we both grow I see the memory of myself

in the lines around your mouth.

And I am your time capsule.
